Ofqual chief rejects call for Raac-affected school results uplift, citing challenges in accounting for other factors.

Ofqual chief Sir Ian Bauckham has rejected calls for a one-off uplift in results for teenagers in schools affected by unsafe reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac). He argued that it would be challenging to offer help without making adjustments for other factors such as teacher shortages and "inadequate" facilities. Of the 234 education settings in England reported to be affected by Raac, 94 are secondary or all-through state schools. Sir Ian expressed surprise at the potential impact on exam results, stating that he believes universities will be "flexible" in taking Raac disruption into account for prospective students.
