Malawi's government shifts AIP forex responsibility, allocating K161B ($208M) for 1.05M beneficiaries.

Malawi's government pays suppliers in local currency for the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP), shifting forex responsibility. This year, K161 billion ($208M) has been allocated, targeting 1.05M beneficiaries; last year, K109B ($141M) targeted 1.5M. Each farmer still receives NPK and Urea fertilizer for K15,000 ($19). The change aims to manage forex challenges and avoid burdening the government with foreign exchange issues.
