India's Supreme Court sets Oct 12, 2024 deadline for full implementation of National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021.
India's Supreme Court has given the Centre, state governments and union territories a deadline of October 12, 2024, to fully implement the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act (NCAHP), 2021, which aims to regulate education and practice in allied healthcare professions. Only 14 states have established state councils for the implementation, prompting the court's concern over the slow implementation and growing number of unregulated healthcare institutes. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is directed to convene an online meeting with state health secretaries to finalize a roadmap for implementing the law.
