56% of drivers cite poor local road conditions as top motoring concern, up 7 pts from 2023; RAC urges gov't to improve road maintenance funding.
56% of drivers consider the condition and maintenance of local roads as their top motoring concern, up seven percentage points from 2023, with nearly three quarters of respondents reporting that the roads they regularly use are in worse condition than a year ago, according to a recent RAC survey. The motoring body has urged the government to address the financial support needed for councils to improve road conditions and maintenance. In 2023, the Conservative government announced an £8.3 billion investment over 11 years to fix potholes in England.
