Breast cancer treatment sacituzumab govitecan shows promise in treating brain tumors in a prospective trial.

A University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio study finds that sacituzumab govitecan, an effective breast cancer treatment, shows promise in treating brain tumors that arise from the disease. In a prospective trial, patients received the drug before surgery, and researchers found it to be well-tolerated and effective for those with breast cancer progressing to brain tumors. This could offer a new therapy for women with aggressive triple-negative breast cancer, where half have brain metastases and a poor prognosis.
