16-year-olds Oscar Broad and Lachlan McKenzie received a prestigious Victoria Police citizen commendation for intervening in a 2019 Creswick attack, where they saved an injured police officer being assaulted by three youths. On their way to a Christmas party, they fearlessly protected the officer from threats and stones, holding one attacker until police arrived. Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton praised their exceptional courage and community spirit.
