13-year-old dies in ice-skating incident, second fatality in Canterbury within a month.

A person died in Christchurch Hospital following critical injuries from an incident during a private curling session at Staveley Ice Skating Rink, making it the second ice-related fatality in Canterbury within a month. Another 13-year-old girl had died previously after hitting her head during an ice-skating school outing. Both cases will be referred to the coroner.
