21st Annual CreeFest, held from July 23 to 25 in Cochrane, Ontario, drew a record-breaking 1,500 attendees and featured entertainment from classic hard rockers Nazareth, the Relic Kings, and Canada's Got Talent winner Rebecca Strong.
The event, overseen by Mushkegowuk Council and hosted by Taykwa Tagamou Nation, also included discussions on Mushkegowuk's draft conservation plan.
The plan aims to protect 86,000 square kilometers of federal waters off the James and Hudson's Bay coastlines, safeguarding fish, beluga whales, polar bears, and Indigenous hunting rights from industrial development while also striving to protect peatlands and Boreal forests.
