South Korea's memory chip exports to Taiwan increased 225.7% in H1 2021, reaching $4.26bn, driven by high-performance high bandwidth memory (HBM) demand from the AI market. Taiwan became the 3rd-largest importer of South Korean chips, surpassing Vietnam and the US. SK hynix, the only South Korean HBM supplier, saw a 250% YoY HBM sales increase in Q2, with a projected 300% HBM revenue rise by 2024.
