Mazagaon Dockyards Limited completes crucial trials for India's Rs 60,000 crore submarine project.

Mazagaon Dockyards Limited (MDL) has successfully completed crucial trials in India's Rs 60,000 crore project for building six advanced conventional submarines. The Indian Navy aims to enhance its underwater fleet with submarines equipped with sea-proven Air Independent Propulsion systems, allowing them to stay underwater for up to two weeks without resurfacing. MDL and Larsen & Toubro are the main contenders for the project, with German ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and Spanish Navantia as their respective partners. The project is pending further clearance from the Defence Ministry and government.
