A man with an assault rifle was taken into protective custody in northwest Colorado Springs on August 10, after a shelter-in-place order was issued due to a search for a wanted suspect. Police managed to de-escalate the situation and lifted the shelter-in-place around 7:30 pm. The reason for the individual's wanted status remains unclear.
