Kashmir police chief, VK Birdi, ordered 24/7 checkpoints and joint mechanisms to combat terror threats ahead of Independence Day. Birdi, during a meeting, instructed officers to enhance night domination in vulnerable areas, establish 24/7 special checkpoints at at-risk locations in Srinagar, and ensure the fair, smooth conduct of Independence Day celebrations and the Tiranga rally. Security forces will maintain strict vigilance and alertness to prevent disruptions.
