India to commission its second nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arighat, within a month or two.

India is set to commission its second nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arighat, within a month or two. It will join its sister, INS Arihant, fully operational since 2018. As part of India's efforts to counter threats from China and Pakistan, the government awaits final approval for a project to build two more nuclear-powered attack submarines. This follows India's operational INS Arihant since 2018. The INS Arighat, a 6,000-ton submarine, is ready for commissioning after thorough trials and upgrades and is expected to be armed with 750-km range K-15 missiles.
