A newly discovered peacock jumping spider species, Maratus yanchep, faces extinction due to housing developments near Yanchep, Perth. Discovered in 2022, the spiders' habitat is now just 20 meters from housing estates, putting their survival at risk. Wildlife photographers Nick Volpe, Lucyna Kania, and Reef Coakley found the vibrant spiders in their explorations of lesser-known Australian animals.
