A broken pipe at a Days Bay pump station in Lower Hutt, New Zealand led to untreated and treated wastewater leaking into Days Bay. Wellington Water temporarily closed the main wastewater outfall pipeline to Pencarrow Heads, causing treated wastewater to be discharged into the Waiwhetu Stream. Crews are working to repair the pipe, and Eastbourne residents are asked to reduce toilet and shower usage to minimize environmental impact.
