On August 26th, a funeral mass is planned for WWII hero Sgt. Jack Hohlfeld, who died in a Japanese POW camp after surviving the Bataan Death March. His remains were identified using DNA technology and will be transported to La Crosse for a funeral Mass, burial with full military honors, and public attendance. Hohlfeld, from Winona, received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, World War II POW Medal, and other citations for his military service.
