On 6 August, a violent clash occurred outside Islami Bank Bangladesh's Dhaka office as S Alam officials attempted to enter the premises. Bank officials and self-proclaimed shareholders blocked their entry, leading to gunfire and injuries. The protesting officials demanded reconstitution of the bank's board, expulsion of certain officials, and removal of S Alam Group appointees. They claim appointments made since the group's acquisition of controlling shares in 2017 were done illegally, and the unrest has caused instability in Bangladesh's banking sector.
