18 US states receive $2.2bn from DOE to strengthen electrical grids against extreme weather, transition to cleaner energy, and meet growing demand. Funding for eight projects will ensure 600 miles of new transmission lines and upgrade 400 miles of existing ones. Initiative is part of the $10.5bn Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships program funded by the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aiming to provide reliable, affordable electricity to 56mn homes and businesses.
