62% of UK drivers believe their roads are in worse condition than those in Europe, according to a RAC Europe survey. The study of 1,778 drivers found that 57% also think there are fewer and less severe potholes on European motorways than on British high-speed roads. The National Audit Office (NAO) report revealed the UK government is "unaware of the state of local roads" and does not have accurate data on how effectively councils are using available funding to fix potholes. The RAC estimates there are over 1 million potholes in the UK.
