48 Stardust nightclub fire victims' families in Dublin receive €500,000 each in compensation approved by the Irish Cabinet.
48 families of Stardust nightclub fire victims in Dublin, Ireland (1981) will receive €500,000 each in compensation after the Irish Cabinet approved a €24 million redress scheme. The inquest in April determined the victims were unlawfully killed by a fire caused by an electrical fault in the hot press of the nightclub. The victims' families campaigned for justice for over 40 years, ultimately receiving a state apology from Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris earlier this year.
