Rivian moves R2 EV charge port from right side to rear for Supercharger compatibility and accessibility.
Rivian is moving the charge port on its R2 electric vehicle, initially planned for 2026, from the right (passenger) side to the rear driver's side to address compatibility issues with the Tesla Supercharger Network and concerns regarding accessibility. The initial placement was criticized for being difficult to reach at some Supercharger locations, potentially requiring unhooking a trailer first when towing. The change in charge port location is confirmed by Rivian's spokesperson.
