India's Health Department launched a Mass Drug Administration (MDA) program in Sangareddy and Mahabubabad districts to tackle filariasis, a disease caused by parasitic worms spread through mosquito bites. The program aims to administer medication to approximately 6.29 lakh people by Aug 25, involving designated booths, door-to-door campaigns, and a mop-up round. Focused drugs include Diethylcarbamazine Citrate (DEC), Ivermectin, and Albendazole, with certain groups excluded due to age or health conditions.
