The Indian government has approved eight new railway projects worth ₹24,657 crore, aimed at enhancing connectivity, improving travel ease, reducing oil imports, and lowering carbon dioxide emissions. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the projects will improve logistical efficiency by connecting unconnected areas and boosting transportation networks, leading to streamlined supply chains and accelerated economic growth. The total estimated cost of these projects is Rs 24,657 crore, with an added benefit of saving 767 crore kg of CO2, equivalent to planting 30 crore trees. The projects are expected to contribute to sustainable development by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
