India extends PMAY-G program until March 2029, targeting 20 million additional rural houses.

India's Cabinet has extended the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) program until March 2029, aiming to construct an additional 2 crore (20 million) rural houses. The initial target, launched in 2016, was to construct 2.95 crore homes by March 2024. With the extension, the program's financial support will also continue for the completion of incomplete houses from the previous phase. The total budget for the initiative is set at Rs 3,06,137 crore, which includes a central share of Rs 2,05,856 crore and a state share of Rs 1,00,281 crore.
