The Custer Gallatin National Forest and Montana DEQ have completed an EIS for the expansion of East Boulder Mine in Sweet Grass County. The expansion plans involve a new 127-acre waste rock facility and a 102-acre Dry Fork waste rock storage area. If approved, the mine could operate for an additional 11-14 years, employing 450 people. The mine is the world's highest-grade platinum group metals deposit and provides valuable resources for industrial applications.
