A brush fire near Kapolei Parkway in Ewa, Hawaii, sparked evacuations at Ka Makana Alii shopping mall and closed southbound lanes on Kapolei Parkway. The Honolulu Fire Department succeeded in containing 50% of the fire by 2:45 p.m. on Friday, and the Varona Village housing subdivision evacuation was halted. The mall entrance has since reopened after the HFD granted the all-clear.
