Bangladesh's Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan and university VC Maksud Kamal resign amid student protests, with unrest resulting in 300 deaths, primarily students.

Bangladesh's Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan and university Vice-Chancellor Maksud Kamal have resigned amid student protests over a cancelled full court meeting and accusations of backing the ousted former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina's government. The protests, which began over government job quotas, have resulted in heightened tensions and fear within minority communities. Hindus in Sherpur have formed night watch groups to protect their businesses, while members of the Adivasi (Munda, Santhal, and Oraon) community have expressed living in fear as their homes and businesses have been attacked and looted. Approximately 300 deaths have occurred due to the unrest, with the majority of victims being students.
