Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, and Ram, may lay off up to 2,450 union workers at its Warren Truck Plant in Michigan due to the end of production for the Ram 1500 Classic truck. The layoffs could begin as early as October 8th as the plant transitions from a two-shift to a one-shift operating pattern in general assembly. The production of the Jeep Wagoneer at the same facility will continue on a two-shift schedule. Stellantis is offering early retirement packages to many of its U.S. white-collar workers, with indefinitely senior union employees receiving 52 weeks of supplemental unemployment benefits and 52 weeks of transition assistance in addition to state unemployment benefits and two years of healthcare coverage.
