2024 predicted to be the warmest year on record by Copernicus Climate Change Service, with each month from June 2023 to June 2024 breaking its own temperature record.

2024 is increasingly likely to be the warmest year on record, according to the European Union's climate monitor Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), despite July ending a 13-month streak of monthly temperature records. The service reported that between June 2023 and June 2024, each month broke its own temperature record for the time of year, with global temperatures from January to July already 0.70°C above the 1991-2020 average. The ongoing warming trend has led the C3S to state that the devastating effects of climate change will continue until global greenhouse gas emissions reach net zero.
