NYC Mayor Eric Adams launched a multi-agency initiative to improve public safety and quality of life on 14th Street in Manhattan, targeting issues like illegal vending, theft, substance use, mental health crisis, and unlicensed cannabis shops. The 14th Street Community Improvement Coalition, involving NYPD, DSNY, Homeless Services, and Mental Health & Hygiene depts, will use a $1m Mobile Command Center to address crime and improve conditions, while identifying individuals needing housing or medical care. The move follows recent stabbings and homicides in the area.
