New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $200 million Summer EBT food assistance program, providing $120 per child to low-income families during summer break. The program, which began in July, aims to help families with food expenses while children are home from school. Families that regularly receive food stamps may automatically qualify, but others, including those who might not know they're eligible, will need to apply by the extended deadline of September 3. Eligible families must attend a school participating in the National School Lunch Program and have an income at or below the limit for free and reduced-price school meals.
