New Zealand's government declines additional funding for Christ Church Cathedral rebuild.

New Zealand's government has decided not to provide additional taxpayer funding for the Christ Church Cathedral rebuild, damaged in 2011. The Anglican Church warned of a $114m budget shortfall, later reduced to $85m, but Finance Minister Nicola Willis stated that contributing $60m would be significant for a project that's not publicly owned and has limited public usage. The final decision on the cathedral's completion now appears uncertain.
