The accused, including Ganduje, his ex-Commissioner for Local Government, Murtala Garo, and two others, face charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, making false statements, and criminal misappropriation. The state government accuses them of mismanaging 44 Local Government's statutory allocations and diverting funds for personal gain, acquiring properties in Kano, Abuja, and Dubai. The state intends to call 143 witnesses in the case.
