Himachal Pradesh launches Rs 150 crore HIM-UNNATI initiative to promote natural farming, benefiting 1.92 lakh farmers.

Himachal Pradesh's state government has launched a Rs 150 crore ($20.2 million) initiative, HIM-UNNATI, aimed at promoting natural farming across the state. The program supports 1.92 lakh farmers practicing chemical-free farming on over 32,149 hectares and focuses on making agriculture economically viable through a cluster-based development model. It is expected to benefit small and marginal farmers, women, and those from weaker sections of society, generating self-employment opportunities for around 50,000 farmers and increasing productivity by 15-20% in vegetables and cereals. The scheme includes comprehensive soil test-based nutrient management, high-end product cultivation promotion, and traditional millet cultivation support.
