Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called for increased cooperation in defense and security among Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, citing global threats and challenges. He referred to the "Birlestik-2024" exercises in Kazakhstan and training of Central Asian cadets in Azerbaijan's military institutions as examples of strengthening ties in this area. The remarks were made during a meeting of Central Asian and Azerbaijani heads of state in Astana, Kazakhstan.
