54-year-old Eric Cherry was charged with felony arson in Mooresville, Iredell County, after a house fire caused the death of six pets and injured two firefighters. Cherry, already in custody for an unrelated domestic dispute, was connected to the fire through an investigation and faced additional charges of animal cruelty and threatening a firefighter. Both injured firefighters are expected to recover.
