Westpac Bank NZ lowers home loan rates for the third time this month, offering the lowest 2-year term rates among major banks, and joint lowest for 6-month, 18-month, and 3-5-year terms. Concurrently, some term deposit rates are also reduced, effective 9 August. General Manager Sarah Hearn attributes the declining rates to a decrease in wholesale rates. Westpac plans to lend $1bn over 3 years to support affordable homeownership solutions, with options for first-time buyers.
