Octopus Energy extends £30m fund to help pensioners impacted by winter fuel payment removal.
UK's largest energy supplier, Octopus Energy, extends its £30m assistance fund to support pensioners impacted by the government's removal of Winter Fuel Payments. The changes to the welfare system mean that only pensioners receiving means-tested benefits qualify for the assistance, affecting around 10 million people. Octopus Energy's "Octo Assist" fund will allow lower-income pension households who do not receive Pension Credit to claim support. The fund is available to pensioners who lost their £300 Winter Fuel Payment. In addition to financial support, Octopus Energy offers free electric blankets, thermal imaging camera loans, free benefit checks, and in-person energy-saving advice to help pensioners manage energy costs during the winter season.
