Namibia, the third-largest uranium producer globally, is considering building nuclear power plants to become energy self-sufficient and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. The country lacks a defined nuclear policy and has not explored nuclear energy in its current National Development Plan. Despite the challenges of infrastructure, funding, and public perception, a nuclear power plant could address Namibia's energy security, improve national water and food security, and boost investments and industrialization.
