John Ball Zoo in Michigan recently welcomed a female eastern mountain bongo calf named Chestnut, born on July 23 to parents Carrot and Beckson. This critically endangered species is threatened by poaching, habitat destruction, and illegal trapping. The zoo has been an active participant in the Species Survival Plan Program for bongos for over a decade, supporting species conservation.
