A study by Binghamton University, SUNY revealed that a Mediterranean diet leads to lower perceived stress levels compared to a traditional Western diet in over 1,500 participants. The Mediterranean diet, rich in plant-based foods and healthy fats, is associated with lower stress and mental distress, while the Western diet with processed foods is linked to higher stress. This study, published in Nutrition and Health, suggests that a Mediterranean diet can improve positive attributes of perceived stress.
