Ghana's Minority Parliament criticizes COCOBOD for rising administrative expenses as cocoa production declines.

Ghana's Minority Parliament criticized the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) for its rising administrative expenditures (GH¢3.4bn in 2023) amidst declining cocoa production (655,000 tonnes over four years). Ranking Member of the Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Eric Opoku, questioned the allocation of funds and urged prudent spending on farmers' well-being. COCOBOD's head office spending is higher than the entire Ministry of Agriculture's budget.
