The tragic incident occurred when Hogbin fell into the Annan River with his wife and children after a portion of the riverbank gave way. Hogbin's wife, Jane, tried to save him, but he let go of her arm when she started slipping, possibly saving her life. A 4.9-meter crocodile was later found and killed near the site, with human remains discovered inside it. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support Hogbin's family during this difficult time.
