Zimbabwean businessman Mike Chimombe's application to challenge his placement on remand was dismissed by Harare Magistrate, Stanford Mambanje. Chimombe faces charges related to a $9.2m City of Harare street lights tender, with allegations of fraud and submitting false documents. The magistrate ruled that the State had provided sufficient facts to justify placing Chimombe on remand. Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu are also awaiting a bail hearing for another fraud charge involving $7m.
