Oeiras, Portugal, introduces €1/night tourist tax from 15 August for tourism, environmental, and cultural support.

Oeiras, a coastal town in Portugal, will introduce a €1 tourist tax per overnight stay from August 15. The funds raised, estimated at €200,000 annually, will support activities and investments related to tourism, environmental preservation, traditional commerce, cultural and recreational hubs, public space management, and tourist support services. This move follows other Portuguese cities that have implemented similar tourist taxes.
