1.3 million people in Britain claimed Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for psychiatric disorders by end of January 2024, an increase of 462,000 from February 2020. PIP provides financial support for adults with disabilities, long-term illnesses, or mental health conditions requiring assistance with daily tasks or mobility. Successful PIP claims range from £28.70 to £184.30 weekly, with payments made every four weeks. To be eligible, individuals must have experienced difficulties with daily living or mobility for at least three months and expect these difficulties to continue for at least nine months.
