Colombia's armed forces have resumed military operations against leftist rebel group ELN after a six-month ceasefire ended, Defense Minister Ivan Velasquez announced. The ceasefire, part of peace negotiations between the government and ELN, had aimed to address Colombia's long-lasting conflict that has resulted in over 450,000 lives lost. Despite efforts by President Gustavo Petro's administration, ongoing challenges in establishing lasting peace persist.
