Brooklands Zoo, an approved breeding facility for critically endangered cotton-top tamarins, added Nomi from Auckland Zoo, leading to bonding and positive impact on Teo's weight.

Brooklands Zoo in New Zealand welcomed cotton-top tamarin monkey Nomi from Auckland Zoo, who quickly bonded with existing resident Teo. Their romantic connection has positively affected Teo's weight, with Nomi sharing food. The zoo, an approved facility by Ministry of Primary Industries, participates in a breeding program for critically endangered cotton-top tamarins, native to Colombia. With only 7,000 remaining in the wild due to habitat loss and pet trade, the zoo celebrates the cotton-top tamarin on August 17-18 with keeper talks, activities, and chalk for kids.
