Barunguba Montague Island's birdlife research addresses impact of European occupation and restoration efforts during Science Week at Narooma's Lighthouse Museum.

Barunguba Montague Island's thriving birdlife is the focus of this year's Science Week on the Far South Coast. NPWS research on the island's diverse bird species will be highlighted by Narooma Historical Society, with NPWS ranger and scientist Dr. Amy Harris addressing the theme "Species Survival - More than just sustainability" on August 18 at Narooma's Lighthouse Museum. The event will examine the impact of European occupation on the island's vegetation and how scientific innovation has helped restore vegetation to a more conducive environment for bird populations.
