On August 4, a vehicle fire on the Sea to Sky Highway near Culliton Creek turned into a brush fire, prompting a joint effort by Squamish Fire Rescue and BC Wildfire Service Initial Attack crew. The fire burnt 400ft by 150ft of grass, mosses, and deciduous brush, but not larger coniferous trees. No injuries were reported. Fire Chief Aaron Foote warns of extremely dry forest fuels in the region and urges caution in the forest and along roadways. The fire is being monitored for hot spots.
